DESCRIPTION
There always some new discoveries - from the middle of nowhere in a desert in Africa, from a industrial mining area in China, from a jungle in South America or something like this - fine, but not really a surprise. This material is hand-extracted from 2 field collectors on Sicily. From a small island, population since thousands of years, mining history since centuries. And this is really surprise! What are the odds? How unlikely is it that something completely new comes from from such an old area!
The discoverer was exhibitor at the Munich show two years ago, he had 9 flats of this material - 90% damaged and from the other 10% nearly no really aesthetic piece. I do not know what these guys kept for their collections - but from all pieces they had on sale this was the best. no lab-work has been done to this material, just water-cleaned. The faces are partly glossy and show a nice texture. The matrix is covered with smaller crystals with less saturation, most of them show one or two sides with an inter grown light grey layer, which helps to give a further contrast to the specimen. Then you can see two completely exposed large main crystals - they are to 27mm on edges.
And they show this spectacular color - reminds to really good pieces from Hesselbach or fine material from Blanchard mines - absolutely exceptional for Sicily! There are no significant damages to report, the pice looks great in various positions.
