Euclase (M115)
The locality is well known for the probably best blue Euclase world-wide. There is simply no other place on earth, which produce this stunning color. Unfortunately this material is very rare and hard to obtain - there were only small discoveries in the 50ties and 60ties and one further relevant discovery end of the 80ties. Usually we know crystals between 1 to 2 cm, maybe a few up to 2,5 or even 3cm. What we have here is absolutely out-standing - this single crystal is 62mm tall; this size is phenomenal! The faces are glossy and lustrous, the end-points show some stepped, sharp faces with incredible concentration of color. A few small Quartz crystals are inter-grown to the crystal. The sides were contacted ad had no room to develop sharp edges, but they are not broken or damaged, also the reverse is healed. The first photo shows the specimen with moderately backlight, the second was done under daylight.
