Proustite (M325)
And again an important classic locality. Centuries old mining history, the oldest mine still in production in Europe, countless important finds. And due to its silver wealth already around 1500 it was the largest city in the Bohemian Kingdom. This stage shows an exposed group of highly transparent, very shiny crystals in a fantastic color that makes Proustite so desirable for collectors. In the lower part of the stage you can see some other crystals, but they are not as well illuminated as they sit directly on the matrix. But they are of the same excellent quality. The old label dates back to 1922. On the reverse there is an interesting note: the piece was in the possession of the Natural History Museum in Vienna and was exchanged from the museum's holdings by the then well-known curator Gerhard Niedermayer in 1984.
